2. Elton John glasses were out in force during a special presentation event at Godstone's Orpheus Centre. Magic FM DJs Neil Fox and Verity Geere presented those at the centre with a new piano with a certificate of authenticity signed by Sir Elton John, along with a copy of his Goodbye Yellow Brick Road Gold disc. Atalanta Beaumont, who volunteers for Orpheus, won the prize through a competition.

Although he was already known in due to the growing success of his previous albums - including Don’t Shoot Me I’m Only The Piano Player, Elton John and Honky Chateau - it was the release of this double album that made Elton a household name, going on to sell a staggering million copies.

4. Buy Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. We’ve been down this road before of critiquing double albums which would have worked better as a single album. See our recent review of Exile On Main Street by The Rolling Stones or stayed tuned for our look at The Beatles’ White Album later this year. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, the double-length album by Elton John may also fit this mold.

5. Apr 04,  · My "other" versions of the album include the MFSL CD, the mid '90s Gus remaster, the DVD-A, a Back-t0-Black Universal vinyl remaster and an early U.S. MCA vinyl. While the new yellow vinyl might not be the most "accurate" as compared to the original U.K. DJM (which I've never heard), I do find it a pleasing listen, perhaps in some ways more so.
